Teen sensation Lil Tay, who gained fame through her controversial online content, has reportedly passed away at the age of 14.
A post on Lil Tay's social media account confirmed the unfortunate news of her and her brother's untimely demise. The message conveyed the deep sorrow felt by her loved ones and the unexpected shock that this loss has brought upon them.
However, conflicting reports have emerged. Authorities in Vancouver, where Lil Tay was believed to reside, stated that they have not received any information about her passing, adding that they are not currently investigating the matter.
Lil Tay first came into the limelight at the age of nine, showcasing ostentatious displays of her affluence, boasting about her possessions such as houses and cars. It was revealed in a 2018 report by Good Morning America that these videos were produced using properties and vehicles owned by her mother's former employer, without his consent.
The young star asserted that her participation in these videos was voluntary, claiming ownership of the concept. She believed that her accomplishments at such a tender age were the source of amusement for viewers.
Her online presence waned in the same year due to reported legal struggles between her parents, Angela Tian and Christopher Hope. In 2020, TMZ disclosed that Lil Tay had become a subject of a custody dispute.
When questioned about the authenticity of the news, both Lil Tay's father, Christopher Hope, and her former manager, Harry Tsang, expressed uncertainty, emphasizing the need for careful consideration and respect for the situation's intricacies. They refrained from definitively confirming or denying the reports.
