In Short
India made 2 changes to their XI in their first Super Fours match against Pakistan
KL Rahul returned to action for the first time since recovering from injury
Shreyas Iyer missed out due to back spasm, confirmed captain Rohit
India made two changes to their playing XI for their crucial Asia Cup 2023 Super Fours match against arch-rivals Pakistan in Colombo on Sunday, September 10. As the weather held up and the sun was out in the city, Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and opted to field.
Captain Rohit Sharma announced the 2 changes and revealed that one of them was a forced change as Shreyas Iyer picked up a back spasm in the lead-up to the clash against Pakistan. It was unfortunate as Iyer had played only two matches in the group stages of the Asia Cup after his return from a long injury layoff.
India also brought back Jasprit Bumrah in place of Mohammed Shami as the pace spearhead returns to action after his paternity leave.
On the other hand, Pakistan named an unchanged XI for the big-ticket contest against India after having begun their Super Fours campaign with a 7-wicket win over Bangladesh in Lahore last week.
